Overview: Prostate cancer is an attractive target for primary chemoprevention strategies because of its molecular pathogenesis, incidence, prevalence, treatment-related morbidity and mortality. In the last several years, many large scale primary and secondary prevention trials have been initiated and completed, and the results of several more are anticipated in 2009. A brief review of the rationale, design, and results (where available) is provided.
