Muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer: What Have We Learned and What's New on the Horizon?

Overview: This article reviews advances in the treatment of transitional cell cancer with cisplatin-based combination chemotherapy and second-line chemotherapy. It also reviews the literature regarding neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy in the perioperative setting as well as the importance of surgery in bladder cancer. Novel agents and therapeutic strategies for evaluating them also are presented.
